Your practice.
Your privacy.
This policy covers Linguino at linguino.app and the Linguino iOS app. Here is what the service processes, why, and the choices you have.
Account and learning data
We use your email address to send sign-in codes and identify your account. We store your chosen languages, learning goals and levels, lessons, practice-session transcripts, quiz answers, pronunciation scores, coach feedback, and practice-time balance to provide the learning experience and track progress.
The app also keeps preferences and unfinished lessons on your device. iOS stores sign-in tokens in Keychain and pending progress locally so it can retry a failed save. The website uses browser storage for sign-in and lesson state.
Your microphone and AI providers
Live conversations use xAI’s Grok Voice Think Fast. When you start a live session, your microphone audio, lesson context, learning profile, and relevant weak phrases are sent through our server to xAI to generate spoken replies and transcripts. Ending the session stops that live audio stream.
OpenAI processes content for other AI features, including custom lesson and image generation, phrase translations, pronunciation recordings and scoring, speech playback, and coach feedback. Google Gemini is supported as an alternative live provider when configured. The provider used for a session receives the audio and context needed to run it.
Linguino saves live-session transcripts and results; it does not keep a recording of the full live conversation in its application database. Pronunciation recordings are sent for assessment. Provider processing and retention are subject to the providers’ own policies: xAI, OpenAI, and Google.
You can deny or revoke microphone access in your browser or device settings. Voice features require that access. Avoid including sensitive information in your practice conversations.
Hosting, email, and payments
Cloudflare hosts the service and database and handles network requests and operational logs. Sign-in emails are delivered through Cloudflare or Postmark. Website payments are handled by Stripe; Linguino stores subscription identifiers, purchase records, and practice-time balances, while Stripe handles payment details.
Website analytics and diagnostics
The website uses Google Analytics to understand visits and interactions. Google Analytics may use cookies and process browser, device, and network information. When Sentry diagnostics are enabled, they receive error and performance information and may include request or user information. The native iOS app does not include an analytics or tracking SDK.
Retention and deletion
Account and learning records remain available while you use your account. In iOS, open Profile and choose Delete account to remove your account, lessons, transcripts, learning profiles, and results from the active application database. This also clears that account’s pending local progress saves.
Database recovery copies can retain deleted records for up to 30 days. Infrastructure logs, email delivery records, payment records, and data handled by AI providers have separate retention practices. Deleting a Linguino account does not necessarily remove records those providers retain for their own obligations.
Signing out clears the active lesson and sign-in state on this device. Unsynced iOS results are retained for the same account to recover after signing back in. Uninstalling the app or clearing website storage removes local lesson data.
Questions and requests
For questions about your information, or to request access, correction, or deletion, email hello@linguino.app from the address associated with your account. We may need to verify account ownership before fulfilling a request.
We update this page when our data practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision.
