The lines

Booking a time slot

Say the day and time first, then what you want: 「明日の三時に、カットをお願いできますか。」 〜お願いできますか is a softer, more polite version of お願いします for asking a favour.

明日の三時に、カットをお願いできますか。

ashita no san ji ni, katto o onegai dekimasu ka.

“Could I book a haircut tomorrow at three?”

When to use it: Phoning a hair salon

What you’ll hear back: はい、大丈夫です。お名前をお願いします。 hai, daijōbu desu. o-namae o onegai shimasu. (Yes, that's fine. Your name, please?)

Moving an appointment

State the new time and use 〜たいんですが: 「予約を来週に変更したいんですが。」 The trailing 〜んですが leaves the sentence open so the other person offers you a slot.

予約を来週に変更したいんですが。

yoyaku o raishū ni henkō shitai n desu ga.

“I'd like to move my appointment to next week.”

When to use it: Calling to reschedule

What you’ll hear back: かしこまりました。何曜日がよろしいですか。 kashikomarimashita. nan'yōbi ga yoroshii desu ka. (Certainly. Which day would suit you?)
