Flagging a mix-up
Je crois que turns a complaint into a likely mistake: "Excusez-moi, je crois que ce n'est pas ce que j'ai commandé." It lets the waiter fix it without anyone losing face.

When to use it: The second the wrong plate lands
What you’ll hear back: Oh pardon, je vous apporte le bon plat tout de suite. (Sorry, I'll bring the right dish right away.)
Soften with un peu, ask with vous pourriez
Shrink the problem, then ask in the conditional: "C'est un peu froid, vous pourriez le réchauffer ?" Both halves matter, because c'est froid, réchauffez-le lands as an order.
C'est un peu froid, vous pourriez le réchauffer ?
“It's a little cold. Could you warm it up?”
When to use it: When the food arrives cold
What you’ll hear back: Bien sûr, je vous le fais réchauffer. (Of course, I'll have it reheated.)
