sumimasen, tanonda mono to chigau n desu ga.
“Excuse me, this isn't what I ordered.”
When: The wrong dish lands in front of you

The moment
At a busy Tokyo restaurant your main course arrives cold, and your friend gets someone else's dish entirely. You need both fixed without making a scene.
A2 · Unit 1 · Eating out
The lines
This isn't what I ordered
Compare the plate with your order and let the sentence trail off: 「すみません、頼んだものと違うんですが。」 The unfinished 〜んですが hands the problem over instead of accusing anyone.
sumimasen, tanonda mono to chigau n desu ga.
“Excuse me, this isn't what I ordered.”
When to use it: The wrong dish lands in front of you
What you’ll hear back: 大変失礼しました。 taihen shitsurei shimashita. sugu ni o-torikae shimasu. (I'm terribly sorry. We'll replace it right away.)
Reason first, then the ask
Give the reason with ので, then make the request with 〜ていただけますか: 「少し冷たいので、温め直していただけますか。」 That request form is the gentlest way to ask staff to redo something.
sukoshi tsumetai node, atatamenaoshite itadakemasu ka.
“It's a little cold. Could you warm it up again?”
When to use it: Your food comes out cold
What you’ll hear back: かしこまりました。 kashikomarimashita. shōshō omachi kudasai. (Certainly. One moment, please.)
