The lines
Me dedico a…
Spaniards rarely leave it at "soy diseñador". The natural answer names your field with dedicarse a: "Me dedico al diseño de aplicaciones." It sounds professional and invites a follow-up.
Me dedico al diseño de aplicaciones.
“I work in app design.”
When to use it: Answering ¿a qué te dedicas?
What you’ll hear back: ¿Ah sí? ¿Y trabajas por cuenta propia o en una empresa? (Oh really? Freelance or at a company?)
Me encargo de…
To turn a vague job title into something concrete, use encargarse de plus an infinitive: "Me encargo de coordinar al equipo y de hablar con los clientes." Repeat the de before each new task.
Me encargo de coordinar al equipo y de hablar con los clientes.
“I coordinate the team and talk to the clients.”
When to use it: Describing what your day involves
What you’ll hear back: Vaya, entonces te pasas el día de reuniones, ¿no? (Wow, so you spend all day in meetings, right?)
