This is the unit’s checkpoint: one roleplay that puts the unit’s scenes together.

The lines

Getting specific about your work

At a networking event nobody remembers a job title. 'Concrètement, je m'occupe de...' turns your role into something the other person can picture.

“In practice, I handle everything to do with customer relations.”

When to use it: Explaining your role in depth

What you’ll hear back: Ah, on travaille un peu dans le même domaine alors. (Oh, we work in a similar field then.)

Locking in the follow-up

Close with a conditional so the invitation stays light: 'Est-ce qu'un café mardi matin vous conviendrait ?' commits to a slot without pressuring anyone.

“Would a coffee on Tuesday morning suit you?”

When to use it: Fixing a concrete next meeting

What you’ll hear back: Mardi, c'est parfait, je vous envoie une invitation. (Tuesday is perfect, I'll send you an invite.)

ce qui me plaît le plus, c'est...suh kee muh PLEH luh PLOO, sehwhat I like most is...

What I like most is watching a project go from idea to reality.

Tip: Perfect the moment someone asks whether you enjoy your job.

à moyen termeah mwah-yan TAIRMin the medium term

À moyen terme, j'aimerais monter ma propre équipe.

In the medium term, I'd like to build my own team.

Tip: Frames ambition as realistic; French pros love 'court/moyen/long terme'.

caler une réunionkah-LEH oon ray-oo-NYOHNto lock in a meeting

Send me a message and we'll lock in a meeting next week.

Tip: Turns a vague 'on se rappelle' into an actual date.

Your objective

Introduce yourself, explain your work in some detail, find something you have in common, and set a follow-up for a specific day.

  • what you do
  • something in common
  • a follow-up with a day

Lines that get it done

In the live scene the objective stays on screen, and the Replay afterwards says whether you got it done.

Check yourself

  1. 1. Someone at the event asks what you do. Which reply gives real detail?

    Show the answer

Both halves need 'dans': the sector first, then the specialism.

  2. 2. Your new contact suggests an approach you don't fully share. What is the diplomatic reply?

    Show the answer

'Avoir tendance à' takes 'à', and the conditional keeps the disagreement soft.

  3. 3. How do you propose a concrete coffee next week before you part ways?

    Show the answer

On cale un café la semaine prochaine ?

'Semaine' is feminine, so it takes 'prochaine' and no preposition before it.
