How to call customer service in Italian
Buongiorno, chiamo per un addebito che non riconosco sulla bolletta.
“Good morning, I'm calling about a charge on my bill that I don't recognize.”
When: The moment a human finally answers

The moment
Your Italian mobile bill shows a charge you never agreed to. You call the operator from your flat in Rome, get past the automated menu and explain everything to someone who cannot see your screen.

The lines
Open with the reason
Italians state why they are calling before anything else: 'Buongiorno, chiamo per un addebito che non riconosco sulla bolletta.' One line, then let the agent ask for the details.
Buongiorno, chiamo per un addebito che non riconosco sulla bolletta.
“Good morning, I'm calling about a charge on my bill that I don't recognize.”
When to use it: The moment a human finally answers
What you’ll hear back: Mi dica pure, di quale importo si tratta? (Go ahead, which amount are we talking about?)
Recap before you hang up
Close the call by repeating the plan back: 'Quindi, se ho capito bene, l'addebito viene stornato sulla prossima bolletta, giusto?' The 'se ho capito bene... giusto?' frame makes them confirm out loud.
Quindi, se ho capito bene, l'addebito viene stornato sulla prossima bolletta, giusto?
“So, if I've understood correctly, the charge will be refunded on the next bill, right?”
When to use it: Right before saying goodbye
What you’ll hear back: Esatto, lo vedrà accreditato entro trenta giorni. (Exactly, you will see it credited within thirty days.)
