The lines

Saying what you are in charge of

Japanese work talk leans on 担当しています ('I am in charge of') rather than 'my job is'. Add 主に ('mainly') to sound specific: 「主に海外のお客様の対応を担当しています。」

omo ni kaigai no o-kyakusama no taiō o tantō shite imasu.

“I mainly look after our overseas customers.”

When to use it: Explaining your actual role to a colleague or client

What you’ll hear back: そうなんですね。英語をよく使うんですか。 sō na n desu ne. eigo o yoku tsukau n desu ka. (Oh really? So you use English a lot?)

Listing a typical day with 〜たり〜たり

To describe a day as a sample of activities, not a full list, use the plain past form plus り twice and finish with しています: 「午前中はメールを返したり、資料を作ったりしています。」

午前中はメールを返したり、資料を作ったりしています。

gozenchū wa mēru o kaeshitari, shiryō o tsukuttari shite imasu.

“In the morning I answer emails, prepare documents, and so on.”
