The lines

Getting the keys

Hosts expect one short question: '¿Dónde recojo las llaves?' The plain present tense already covers the near future, so you do not need 'voy a recoger'.

¿Dónde recojo las llaves?

“Where do I pick up the keys?”

When to use it: Messaging or calling the host before you arrive

What you’ll hear back: En la caja de seguridad del portal, te mando el código. (In the lockbox in the entrance, I will send you the code.)

Asking what is allowed

'¿Se puede...?' asks whether something is allowed in general, without pointing at anybody: '¿Se puede poner la lavadora por la noche?' It is the standard way to check any house rule.

¿Se puede poner la lavadora por la noche?

“Can I run the washing machine at night?”

When to use it: Checking house rules with your host

What you’ll hear back: Mejor antes de las diez, por los vecinos. (Better before ten, because of the neighbours.)
