Your daily episode
Every day there is a new episode: a short audio story with a narrator and a few recurring characters, written for your level (A1, A2 or B1). Episodes are in French for now. They take place in your neighborhood, Le 11e, and each one carries on the story from the ones before. Listening does not use practice time.
Listen
- Open Listen in the top navigation, or choose Listen on the episode card on your home screen.
- Each line shows who is speaking. Choose "Show English" to see what it means (if you are learning English, "Show meaning" gives a simpler way to say it).
- "Listen for" shows up to five words you know, from your review or your own conversations, that come up in the story.
- Where your browser supports it, play and pause also work from your phone’s media controls.
Your two turns
Twice, the story stops for you. At one pause you answer a question in the language you are learning; at the other you say a line from the story again (tap "Hear it again" to hear it first). Record your answer for a pronunciation score, choose "Type instead", or Skip. You then see one good answer and its meaning, and Keep listening takes you back into the story.
Read instead
Choose "Read instead" to see the whole story at once, with every meaning and both pauses, then "Mark as finished". Your progress is saved at each pause and at the end. Earlier episodes from the last two weeks are listed under Past episodes. If today’s episode is not ready yet, try again a little later.
